Growing up my father was not a craftsman by trade, however, he was very handy and as a hobby he built furniture. I learned at a very early age how gratifying it was to work with your hands to create something.
Approximately 2 years ago, my wife was contemplating buying a new dining table. When she showed me the picture from a popular big retailer I said, "I can build that.” So I did.
My wife posted a picture on her social media pages and before long I had more orders for tables then I knew what to do with. I expanded and adapted to other furniture and decor. Soon I had orders for more furniture and decor installations than I could keep up with.
So I decided to leave my 12-year career in law enforcement and open my own business. I gravitated towards the new developing downtown Alpharetta area to be able to bring my talents to the new exploding residential area what I felt would be home to residents that desired and respected local hand craftsmanship.
A lot of my specialty wood comes from North Georgia saw mills. Every piece of wood is hand selected for each project. I also actively hunt for old barns and buildings that are in being torn down with the current massive residential construction boom. I get a lot of my reclaimed wood this way. I try to rescue this old wood as often as I can.
Reclaimed wood is my favorite wood to work with. Even though it is significantly harder and more time consuming to work with (removing from buildings, removing nails, planning, drying) the finished product has a patina and feel that you can not replicate with dimensional hardware store lumber.
I design and discuss projects with my clients either in person in my shop (furniture) or in their home (decor, etc.). I have chosen to only work with clients who take the time to meet in person and understand and respect that each piece is handmade. I have found that miscommunication often occurs when trying to design a piece for someone without doing a face to face. My goal is to make a one of a kind piece for my clients that they will cherish for years.

A mix of quirky vintage, battered rustic, and a dash of casual new, Gather is filled with décor, furniture, gifts, and keepsakes designed to establish a new space, brighten an existing area, fill a cupboard, don a wall, hang from the ceiling, grace a table, or brighten a sweet friend’s day. Laura and Alyssa are both thrilled to be on this new adventure, and since establishing Gather Goods just a few months ago, have experienced amazing cross country adventures, filled with stories of U-hauls, pit-stops, Starbucks, and lots and lots of laughter. Claudia Rivera, founder of Aroma Candles, turned her passion for creativity into a relaxing pastime designing candles. It all began when she was crafting with her kids during the weekends. She would spend her off days watching videos, learning how to make them, mastering new techniques, researching scent suppliers, etc. After making a few, she decided to share them with her friends at work. Claudia has worked in the bakery at the Cheesecake Factory for 18 years and has loved discovering this late passion of hers.
She officially started her business in November of 2017 and is excited to be featured at The Exchange Interior Market as her first business venture. The candles are made of natural soy wax—homemade and hand poured. They have wood wicks for an excellent scent, more evenly spread aroma and a light crackle sound. You can find an assortment of scents to choose from in the store. They come in glass jars or tin cans with over 12 hours of burn time!
A native Midwesterner, Beth has lived in the Atlanta area since 1992. Beth is a professional interior designer, and creates smart, stylish, livable spaces for suburban families and busy professionals. Whether you’ve got young kids, you’re an empty nester, or if your kids have paws, you deserve to live in a stylish environment that is a reflection of you!
Whether it’s a renovation project like a kitchen or bath redo or a complete furnishings update, Beth takes a practical approach to design and spends her clients’ dollars as if they were her own. She takes into consideration who is using the space, how the space is used, and incorporates her clients’ existing furnishings whenever possible. Beth has been designing homes for 17 years, and was recently named one of Atlanta’s Top Bath Designers by My Home Improvement Magazine.
At the Exchange, Beth will be selling a line of slipcovered furniture (with tons of washable, kid-friendly fabrics to choose from) custom-made in about 4-6 weeks. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind table to add charm to your space, she designs what she calls “vintage modern” tables that incorporate old produce and soda pop crates or wrought iron gates. Each piece is custom made to fit a particular antique, “found” element. For a pop of color, Beth sells beautiful pillows, benches and ottomans made from handmade “boho” style textiles from around the world. You’ll find stylish accessories, rugs, artwork and lighting too.
Beth loves working with busy professionals and families who just want their home “done” so they can enjoy it instead of feeling like it’s always a work in progress. Hiring an interior designer is the best way to overcome “CHAOS” (can’t have anyone over syndrome)! From kitchen and bath renovations to stylish, kid-friendly living spaces, B Interiors has the talent, experience and resources to make your space into a stunning, functional space that you will be delighted to call home.
Barrel Heads was founded in 2016 in Cumming, Georgia. Its start was a simple one. Amos Mitch Smith, CEO, was given a barrel from the local brewery where he works. His desire and need was for a coffee table. He asked his father, Amos Jody Smith, President, to help. In our garage, the “Amos Boys” figured it out. Thus began our journey…
The table turned out so cool, regulars to the brewery, friends and associates requested the Amos Boys to make items for them. Now we are a LLC, barrel distributor, having delivered 30-40 custom pieces from barrel sinks, commercial hostess stands, coffee tables, end tables, custom bars, lazy Susan trays, decor items, outdoor patio tables, wedding cake trays & gift card barrels, and a multitude of other items.
Visit us in our new woodworking shop in Cumming with any ideas you may have and the Amos Boys will happily make it for you!
